The Duel

Flickering candle light,
Dark angel wings
Locked glances
Fear alive in every man

A blood red moon
Darkened skies,
The smell of danger
Adrift on the wind

Pounding hearts,
Rising fevers,
Draining hopes

A woman’s face,
Fiery eyes,
A frozen moment

Whispers fill the air,
A buzzing sound
Feel the tension crackling in the air

 A flash of light,
The sound of thunder
A tight feeling in the chest

A drop of rain,
The world seems to sigh
Hopes begin to rise
And fevers break

The transformation before their eyes
The full moon lightens,
Clouds clear away,
Fear, slowly ebbing away

A rush of fresh air,
The angel,
A flash of light

Puzzled expressions,
Wondering glances,
The buzzing whispers...

The sight,
Not for mere mortals,
They will forget,
‘T was but a dream for them

But reality dawns on those that
Fate gave powers,
The time has come...

The duel of all immortal beings,
The hope of good to prevail
